There is no known treatment for von Willebrand disease III. It’s important to inform veterinarians of the condition before surgeries so they can have extra blood on hand in case a transfusion is needed.

Symptoms

Symptoms of von Willebrand disease III include severe and prolonged bleeding after injuries and surgery. Dogs may also experience excessive bruising from minor trauma. Without medical intervention, bleeding can be so severe that it leads to death.
