Golden Retriever

A black and white dog with a happy expression is looking up at the camera with its mouth open. The dog's ears are perked up, and it appears to be excited.

What does this mean for a dog with this trait?

There is no known cure for sensory ataxic neuropathy. Dogs may be supported with mobility assistance, like installing extra grippy surfaces on the floor. In some cases, the condition becomes so severe that euthanasia is the most compassionate choice.

Symptoms

Symptoms of sensory ataxic neuropathy include a loss of muscle control and coordination. Dogs with the condition may have difficulty standing upright, walking, and balancing. They have an especially challenging time navigating slippery surfaces.
