What does this mean for a dog with this trait?

There is no known cure for DMD-GR. Treatment includes supportive care like bottle feeding and treatment of any conditions that may arise, such as aspiration pneumonia and cardiac disease. In severe cases, euthanasia may be the most compassionate choice.

Symptoms

Symptoms of DMD-GR typically onset around 6 months of age. Dogs with this condition develop an unusual hopping gait, muscle weakness and muscle death, a curved back, and malformation of the mouth. They may experience excessive drooling as well. In severe cases, this condition can lead to death.
