What does this mean for a dog with this trait?

There is no known cure for Lundehund syndrome, but several treatments are used to help with symptoms. Medications like NSAIDs may help with pain, and a specialized diet may help normalize the digestive tract. In severe cases where quality of life is affected, euthanasia may be the most compassionate choice.

Symptoms

Signs of Lundehund syndrome may appear anywhere from 2 years to 10 years of age. Dogs experience extreme gastrointestinal distress, like diarrhea, weight loss, hair loss, and vomiting. Dogs may also collect fluid in the abdomen and experience swollen limbs. Symptoms can range from mild to extremely severe.
