Lagotto Romagnolo

A black and white dog with a happy expression is looking up at the camera with its mouth open. The dog's ears are perked up, and it appears to be excited.

What does this mean for a dog with this trait?

Managing LSD focuses on maintaining comfort and quality of life. While there's no cure, supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms, may help. Environmental modifications, such as providing non-slip surfaces and avoiding stairs, may prevent injuries.

Symptoms

LSD symptoms typically appear between 4 months and 4 years of age. Affected dogs exhibit cerebellar ataxia, characterized by unsteady movements, tremors, and abnormal eye movements. Behavior changes, such as restlessness, depression, and aggression, are also common.
