There are many available treatments for cystinuria, including prescription diets and medications aimed at diluting urine. If blockages have already occurred, non-surgical removal may be possible. If stones are too large, removal may require surgery.
Symptoms
Symptoms of cystinuria include straining or pain when urinating, blood in the urine, and only passing small amounts of urine at a time. If left untreated, cystinuria can lead to urinary tract infection, kidney failure, and death.
