Von Willebrand disease III is a genetic condition associated with 3 different genetic mutations of the vWF gene. Different mutations affect different breeds, including the Dutch Kooiker, Scottish Terrier, and Shetland Sheepdog. Dogs with the condition lack proper levels of von Willebrand factor, which helps with blood clotting.
