Gangliosidosis is a genetic disorder affecting Shiba Inus caused by a mutation in the b-galactosidase gene. It causes the accumulation of a lipid important for nerve cell function. This condition is inherited in the autosomal recessive fashion, meaning both parents must be carriers for a litter to be affected.
