Cystinuria (English Bulldog)
Cystinuria is a kidney disorder that is most commonly found in English Bulldogs, due to their genetic predisposition for mutation in the SLC3A1 gene. These mutations cause a buildup of cystine in a dog’s urine, causing crystals and stones to develop. This can lead to blockages of the urethra, causing difficult and painful urination and sometimes preventing the flow of urine altogether.
