Originated
As its name suggests, the German Shepherd originated in Germany. In the late 19th century, breeders developed them as hunting dogs. They quickly became popular as police and military dogs thanks to their intelligence, agility, and obedient nature. Their distinctive look and strong protective instincts make them a favorite family pet, too.
